Want to release stress?

RELAXATION

Focus on HOW you want to feel and HOW you would feel if you were totally free to enjoy the moment.

Take a virtual break.

Imagine you would put all your problems, fears, duties, things-to-do aside for only 5 minutes, knowing that they will still be there after your 5 minute break.

Take a deep breath. Exhale. Relax you facial muscles. Smile. Feel your body consciously. Feel which muscles are more tense and relax those muscles intentionally. Visualize how the muscles become longer each time you exhale.

Be aware that you may always take deep breaths, smiles and allow yourself to feel good.

Why is change so difficult?

Our thinking patterns are effected by genetics, education, conditioning….
We may experience “automized” thinking and feeling reactions that seem out of our control.
We attract what we are used to. We expect situations, things, emotions to happen the way we have experienced before.

To “change your mind” means to continuously be aware of what and how you think and willingly jettison thinking patterns that no longer serve you. Especially the way you think and feel about yourself.

Train yourself to consciously decide to think what fits for you today!

 

 

Boredom

Got no resources against boredom?

People seem to be afraid of boredom. Youngsters who got nothing to do look for inspiration with drugs and alcohol.
What is the problem?

When my kids where little, they would say: “mommy, I am bored, can I watch TV”
I would say: “Oh, you are bored, that’s great (in the sense of how exiting…) – let’s see what happens next”
Since they were little kids, open, no (negative) expectations but curiosity, they always came up with something interesting, in fact some real amazing creative ideas – such as a watering system with an old piece of hose and bits and pieces from the tool box…..

I guess once we start expecting something negative is when boredom becomes an issue.

Just an experiment: next time you are bored, just sit down, wait and see what comes up….

DEPRESSION ANXIETY versus JOY of LIFE

Did you ever suffer from depression or grow up in an environment of depression, alcohol and negativity?

Did you ever experience an almost constant lack of joy, energy, light, hope or air to breathe?

How does undiagnosed depression correlate with

• Alcohol consume
• Alcohol disease
• Drug abuse
• Addictions such as extensive sports or eating disorders
• Etc. ?

Compensating one problem with another is definitely no sustainable solution. Yet, supervised anti-depressants combined with therapy might be necessary to initially change the hormones in the system and get out of what they call “chronic depression”.

How can we replace unbeneficial thoughts, habits and emotions with constructive ones that enable us to live our life the way we choose?

I believe in learning and training, training, training!

After thousands of hours as a “Walking Coach” working with people in crisis and due to my own story I experienced that shifting your focus on what feels right and good rather than fighting against or running away from what feels bad is the way to overwrite thinking and acting habits.

Instant mood lift

Instant mood lift

Mediocre mood is an energy killer. You can change it with a simple imagination: imagine yourself taking a little break from your current situation, as if you were going to the movies and totally forget about yourself. Give yourself 2 minutes to visualize the theatres, the movie and the easiness you feel when you are in the movies. Fast forward your imagination to the end of the movie, see yourself leaving the cinema peacefully and totally relaxed. Take the easiness feeling along into your here and now. Whenever your thoughts remind you that you were in a bad mood originally, just smile and switch to the movie-experience.

Games like that can be helpful, lift your overall wellbeing. You learn to overcome wasting thinking habits that pull you down and replace them with new thoughts. However, if you suffer from serious low feelings over a longer period of time, you must realize that something inside of you might want to be admitted. The Door

A few  centuries back in some small oriental country the Sultan was looking for a new Vizier because the old one had died. He wanted to choose the most intelligent applicant for the position. So he had the mightiest and most clever men come.

In order to pick the best man he had a door lock done with a very complicated mechanism. The person who would be able to open the door, should become the new vizier.

Many clever people came from all over the country and tried to open the lock. Some did not even try once the saw the lock. Others looked closer and decided it would be to complicate to open the lock. Some very dedicated men would discuss and try to find a solution. However, all of them finally gave up, thinking they would not be able to understand the mechanism of the lock.

When everybody had gone the jester showed up and saw, that the door was slightly open.  He pushed it slightly and it would open. So the Sultan had to give him this very important position. And he was content doing so.
